Concept preparation for the development of prototypes and estimation of attainable measuring accuracy: Objective of the development project was the realization of a measuring system which gives the driver a warning signal as soon as the speed-dependent distance to the vehicle ahead falls below the permitted distance. The road conditions existing at the time of measurement are digitally displayed by means of a stereo-metrically operating camera. A computer then evaluates the images and computes the measured variables.

Within a manufacturing line for the automotive supply industry (Automotive) the soldered connections of a chip were to be examined. With the help of a 3D-Sensor of MEL the object data was determined. Suitable tools were to be implemented for graphic visualisation, and procedures had to be realised for the examination and evaluation. The synchronisation with the production line was effected through a parallel interface.

Electromechanical completion of a test set-up and development of a program, which enables the realization of the measuring process for ultra sound aminography. This method is used for analyzing creep damage at thick-walled pipes. The speed of sound is measured in the material in that an ultra sound sender and a measuring head are moved through the measuring section. The position-controlled motors which are activated by relay maps are controlled via serial interfaces.

Design, development and implementation of the software for a measuring system for the quality control of ceramic parts. This equipment serves to detect any non-homogeneity in particular internal separations such as cracks with a suitable measuring method. In the event of an impact, the ceramic body oscillates, while at the same time, a perceivable sound radiation is initiated. The frequency spectrum of this sound depends, apart from geometry of the body and the kind of suggestion on the density, the elastic module and the homogeneity of the material. It thereby provides information about existing disturbance, specifically about separations in the material. By means of a Fourier analysis, the received time signal is transformed into the frequency range. Protocol and configuration data can be transmitted from one PC to another. The implementation was executed by inclusion of external resources. Extension and maintenance of existing software in DOS (Borland Pascal) and MS Windows (MS Visual C++): The program controls systems for the analysis and treatment of silicon wafers for the semiconductor industry. The surface of a drop, which contains the impurities, becomes scanned along the x/y axis for each of the defined chemical elements. The measuring data are stored as 3D co-ordinates. The distribution of the intensity can be represented as a topographic map for each element. The maximum values are determined and used as new points of reference. Project management, realization and maintenance of a software system in MS Windows: The system, consisting of various programs, provides a tool for displaying and modifying configuration data of telecommunication systems. The data base system MS ACCESS, Dbase III and IV was used for the administration of the data. A compiler was to be developed as DLL under MS-VISUAL C++ using the MFC for interpreting text files and a "server", which performed the data exchange by using DDE telegrams, later as AktivX control member. An independent program for the configuration of the HW components in Microsoft Visual basic was implemented.

Optical measuring system for the non-contact measurement of geometrical sizes at rotation-symmetric parts: The outline of the test specimen is projected with a dissolution of some µm as shade picture on a line camera. With the help of the evaluation algorithms of "WKAgraf", the actual values are determined and afterwards compared with the desired values. Any deviations are corrected by the tools of the manufacturing centre lathe so that a closed automatic control loop is generated.For the examination of the form & situation of tolerances of a cylindrical body, the form of its cross section is compared with a circle and the surface line is compared with a straight line. The center of the circle and the ascending gradient of the straight lines are included in the definition of a reference system and computed according to DIN ISO 5459, taking into account reconciliation, cladding or minimum condition.

Program system for the examination of aluminium panes: aluminium panes are thick punched panels, which are used for the production of tubes. The tolerance monitoring of the outside and internal diameter is crucial for the production process.The aluminium pane to be measured is moved on a conveyor. With the aid of a highly soluble line camera, the outlines are recorded line by line. The computer system takes over the control, regulates the process and evaluates the measuring data by means of the evaluation algorithms of "WKAgraf". On the basis of the tolerances given in the "training mode" a qualitative evaluation of "good" or "bad" is effected. This signal "waste" is used for the controlling of a mechanical switch for segregating the bad parts.

The measuring system measures and quantifies the color and volume parameters of the papilla of the human eye background. A stereometric digital picture is taken centrically to the extended pupil of the eye.
